SteamDeck - it's finally the year of Desktop Linux!

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to share my excitement about the SteamDeck and how it's
revolutionizing gaming on Linux. The user-friendly, controller-run, (video
game) console (not commandl-ine!) like OS makes it viable even for those
who aren't tech-savvy, and the fact that it's being opened to non-Valve
hardware is a game-changer. (pun intended)

I'm curious, has anyone on the list jumped on the SteamDeck bandwagon or
started using Proton to game on their Linux machines? I'd love to hear your
experiences!

Game On!

I play Warframe on Linux using Proton through the Steam installer/launcher. Warframe is Windows only. On Sun, Feb 23, 2025, 09:10 Chad Smith via chugalug wrote:

Easy anti-cheat. And Beat Saber, and Budget Cuts. I don't Epic games because Epic! My understanding is that technically the work. I've also played that Horton Hears a Who remake version Minecraft. Based around TerraFirmacraft, Vintage Story. On Sun, Feb 23, 2025, 09:10 Chad Smith via chugalug wrote:

=============================================================== From: Wil Wade via chugalug ------------------------------------------------------ We have a Linux gaming box. Arch, Minecraft, Steam, even a Valve Index. Steam and such work great. Have to occasionally tweak things, but less and less. The Valve Index is a bit more of a pain, but the last Gnome update added the needed support for Wayland + Index VR. The list of games the kids play is long, but haven't really found any that don't work yet. On Sun, Feb 23, 2025 at 1:20=E2=80=AFPM Unkmar via chugalug wrote: t eo our
