"covid-be-dammed" chug-a-lunch?

2022-02-11 by: Ed King
From: Ed King
Now that I've got plenty of free time (I told my "boss" to go fly a kite
this morning) anyone up for a Chugalunch?

They posted this job after I left...

=============================================================== From: Mitchel Tuck ------------------------------------------------------ Personally speaking he can keep his jobs.

=============================================================== From: Ed King ------------------------------------------------------ Agree. I dont know why I stayed there for so long. So right now I'm unemployed... and feeling GOOD!!!! lol

=============================================================== From: Dan Mailman ------------------------------------------------------ Holy Cow!!! What did they pay? On Fri, Feb 11, 2022 at 11:35 AM Ed King wrote:

=============================================================== From: Dave Brockman ------------------------------------------------------ Since they are asking for at least 6 different spheres of knowledge, and=20 I'm certain it's less than $600k, I'll take a stab with "not enough". That job description is a fucking hoot though. --dtb -it-manager-director

=============================================================== From: Stephen Kraus ------------------------------------------------------ If you schedule it I will drive up for it. Also: 'that.was.a.tasty.burger@gmail.com' Lol On Fri, Feb 11, 2022 at 12:35 PM Ed King wrote:

=============================================================== From: Dan Mailman ------------------------------------------------------ Silly people

=============================================================== From: Billy ------------------------------------------------------ Yeah. I=E2=80=99m thinking expert technical knowledge in 6 different discipl= ines, as well as management and financial responsibilities? I=E2=80=99d be shocked if it was less than 6 figures. Well, not that shocked= . But you know what I mean. This really seems like it should be a management position for 5 other people= , with the team covering all those technologies. In reality, if they can=E2=80=99t afford to build that, then they should jus= t outsource this and pay for the hours worked or contract per incident. --b 20

=============================================================== From: Ed King ------------------------------------------------------ I wore all those hats... for less than 70k. yep, I'm an idiot. or superman. I feel sorry for the next guy/gal who steps into that no-win situation. The guy who replaced me after I left the first time (2015) only lasted 2 years lol. Seems odd that they didnt mention specific technologies? The new superman will need to know LAMP stack like the back of their hand. I guess thats what kept me there so long... I loved the technology. Is it just me or is it hard to find Linux jobs in Chattanooga?

=============================================================== From: Ed King ------------------------------------------------------ I'm wide open... any day any time altho I'd prefer daytime (I'm scared of the dark) Stephen would you prefer weekday or weekend? =============================================================== From: Michael Harrison ------------------------------------------------------ I'm down. Lunch. Whatever. Oh.. and that's a 150k plus job description, with stock.

=============================================================== From: Dan Mailman ------------------------------------------------------ Thanks, I've been out of touch. Wouldn't sneeze at it for that amount. On Sat, Feb 12, 2022 at 5:35 PM Michael Harrison wrote:

=============================================================== From: flushy@flushy.net ------------------------------------------------------ Hey Ed, and others. Like Ed, if we've interacted on this email list over the years, I'll gladly file a recommendation for you if you want to apply for a Red Hat job. https://jobs.redhat.com I find it easier to search by zipcode, with a distance of 200 miles. A lot of jobs our jobs are 100% remote. If you locate a job you're interested in, send me an email with the job #, and I'll send you a referral link to the same job. This allows me to write a little something about you, as well as gives some credit to me if you're hired. Or, if you'd rather have Lynn Dixon do it, let him know :) Ed, I think you'd do really well as a consultant or a TAM. --b

=============================================================== From: Ed King ------------------------------------------------------ @flushy - thank you, I appreciate this, and I will check it out when I get home from gym :) @billy - hope you get well soon. maybe we can have a strep-be-damned chugalunch next week :)

=============================================================== From: Ed King ------------------------------------------------------ Covid-be-dammed Chugalunch tomorrow at... lets go with Champy's, 526 East MLK, downtown Chatt. I'm really jonesin' for some tamales. I'll try to get there right at noon. Its been so long, I forgot what everyone looks like. =============================================================== From: Ed King ------------------------------------------------------ I'm here... "outside" (under the awning, along the back-most wall). black radio shack shirt. Whew this overhead heater is making my face melt, might have to move...

=============================================================== From: Michael Harrison ------------------------------------------------------ I almost made it.. Last minute had to cover work for lunch. What's weird is, I didn't know about it until Phil mentioned it as he left.. Hadn't caught up on personal email in a few days. Then drove to Atlanta to Atlanta. On Wed, Feb 16, 2022 at 11:50 AM Ed King wrote:

=============================================================== From: Ed King ------------------------------------------------------ there were only two of us there today. three if you count my split personality I really enjoyed meeting Ben (before he moves away) and we had a very nice one-on-one chat. ps: when we were cleaning out 745 E Main last week, I found a PE860 server... I "rescued" it from the dumpster, brought it home... it boots into pfSense. I remember seeing a chattanooga online url in the boot screen. . Mike do you want it before I repurpose it or scrap it? nostalgia! Or maybe it was built after you exited that biz and has no nostalgic value On Wed, Feb 16, 2022 at 7:25 PM Michael Harrison wrote:
