Linux, Lenovo P17 or ??

It's a crappy time to buy new hardware, but it's about time.. the system
I'm using right now is circa 2013. I'm wondering if anyone has a Lenovo P17
I could look at physically. I'd be running Debian on it.

My thought is to buy a high end AMD/Intel laptop that might be the last
such I would want, with a future ARM laptop for portability. And I like the
touchpoint (little mouse eraser thingy) when using it in laptop mode. Other
than that, 15+ inch matte screen, 16-32gb ram.. The T15g is a contender...

I don't need the light weight and there may be some linux sound driver
issues, but the LG Gram 17 is a sexy option without a touchpoint.

Open for a thwack over the head, other options..

=============================================================== From: "Jeffrey A. Wormsley" ------------------------------------------------------ I have a P70, which I believe is an earlier version of this (17" Nvidia GPU, NV drive no spinning discs). Running Xubuntu and Win10 dual boot (Win10 only installed this week). Very few issues. Took me a little bit to get the thunderbolt docking station working (recommended add on) so I can run laptop screen plus two external monitors, and it sometimes has trouble remembering the monitor positions between undockings and I have to reposition using the Display setting app. Unit and power brick are both very heavy, so if it is only an occasional transport, it would be fine, but wouldn't want to carry it around every day. =============================================================== From: Stephen Kraus ------------------------------------------------------ I have an older Thinkpad x140e with an AMD Quad Core, I'm running ParrotOS, but my preferred laptop is my Asus ROG with a Ryzen 4800H 8c/16t CPU. Big reason is they are highly modifiable and can hold more storage and memory than most budget machines in both cases. e. o ut P17 the her ..
