=============================================================== From: Stephen Kraus ------------------------------------------------------ Ebola is not much of a survivor outside of the right climates, I doubt it will ever make it out of Africa. All the more reason, however, we need better funding in medical R&D and need to put these 'anti-vaccine' wackos in their place. r bola-outbreak/

=============================================================== From: Phil Sieg ------------------------------------------------------ Stephen, Normally I would agree, however the strength of the virus (any virus) = lies in it's ability to adapt, or mutate. Based on the statistics shown on the outbreak map, this version of Ebola = has about a 61% mortality rate. The first known outbreak (Ebola Zaire) = had a 97% mortality rate. It burned up its hosts so quickly it created = it's own containment. The ideal Mortality rate is probably 25-30% in terms of survivability of = the virus and maximum damage to human populace. Given that, this is just another "trial run". =============================================================== From: Rod ------------------------------------------------------ I always heard that the reason we haven't had a ebola pandemic is that i= ts = high mortality serves to burn itself out. That said with 7 billion plus we are overdue a pandemic and I'm keeping = my = eye on the slums of Mumbai(Bombay). Several drug resistant strains are blooming in its open sewers. When we loose antibiotics it is going to be truly ugly. On Mon, 14 Apr 2014 09:38:25 -0400, Phil Sieg wrot= e: = la = = d = of = . = t = nd = e: = ain-ebola-outbreak/
