Has anyone looked at this? https://github.com/loomio/loomio

I wonder how much farther the Occupy crowd could have gotten with better
software.

=============================================================== From: John Aldrich ------------------------------------------------------ Quoting David Welch : Yes they do... Mr. President. :D By the obscure rules of CHUGALUG, you have elected yourself President of Chugalug for the next meeting, which means you have to come up with a date and time for the next meeting! :D

=============================================================== From: Mike Harrison ------------------------------------------------------ John: The rules are clearly posted and are not obscure: http://www.chugalug.org/widget/about/About.html Mr. President, when and where would you like to have meeting?

=============================================================== From: Tim Youngblood ------------------------------------------------------ You really think software was the limiter on Occupy? That is like saying the titanic would have faired better with air conditioning. ly :

=============================================================== From: Rod-Lists ------------------------------------------------------ Each Occupy is its own entity. Not unlike LUG's. Some are informal, some are very organized, and some die on the vine. ----- Original Message -----

=============================================================== From: David Welch ------------------------------------------------------ I think Loomio could have helped people see where everyone else was at on various issues. Where I as at, there was so much time wasted in meetings on pointless proposals that had no realistic chance of adoption by the group. I don't know whether or not it would have helped, ultimately, but perhaps at least folks could have argued over real issues rather than sit through some boring "point of process."

=============================================================== From: Rod-Lists ------------------------------------------------------ Part of it is the consensus process which many people are not familiar with. Even with an experienced group it takes longer than robert's rules. There is also serious discussion in social justice circles on whether consensus is flawed. It can easily be disrupted by a lone trickster. I seen consensus work in groups as large as 150. But it requires a group you can trust to be intellectually honest in there their discussions and dissent. ----- Original Message -----
