Android apps

From: John Aldrich
Anyone know of an app that will look at one Android device and add all the
apps from the first Android device and install them on the second? Even better
would be one that would copy all the config files. :D

If not, someone ought to write one, 'cause with new devices coming out that
are not going to be upgradeable to the "latest and greatest" version of
Android, there are bound to be people that want to upgrade, but don't want to
go to the hassle of having to install ALL the same apps over again and then
re-configure them on the new device!

=============================================================== From: Lynn Dixon ------------------------------------------------------ You might want to check out Titanium Backup. It makes moving from one phone to another painless.

=============================================================== From: John Aldrich ------------------------------------------------------ Quoting Lynn Dixon : Thanks, Lynn! I'll definitely check that out! I picked up Phil's Asus tablet yesterday and now I"m having to make sure that I have everything I want installed there. :(

=============================================================== From: Phil Sieg ------------------------------------------------------ Helium is a backup app that works well for me, and it doesn't require = root. Written by the Clockwork MOD guys, it can backup to dropbox, google = drive, USB OTG, sd card etc... Pretty sure Titanium Backup requires root. =============================================================== From: John Aldrich ------------------------------------------------------ Quoting Tim Youngblood : Well, one thing that may be complicating matters is that I'm going from a T-Mobile Dell Streak to a Wi-Fi Only tablet....

=============================================================== From: Jon Stanford ------------------------------------------------------ Have you tried and its not working? Because I don't think it matters it tracks by your gmail account.

=============================================================== From: John Aldrich ------------------------------------------------------ All's I know is that there are a LOT of apps on my old tablet that have not showed up on my new one. :(

=============================================================== From: Jon Stanford ------------------------------------------------------ Weird if your old tablet is API version 8+ (>froyo) then the system should default apps to allowBackup=true unless the declare otherwise. Here are the docs for the BackupAgent class in android if anyone is interested: But you probably want something like Carbon... Its made to transfer from device to device. Titanium Backup (TiBu) was designed to provide backup of stuff to local clients not other devices. John Aldrich wrote:
