gParted Rocks

From: Mike Harrison

Thanks gParted.. as I tried to 'refresh' a Mac drive,
whose disk tools could not remove a Linux Swap partition:
You removed the evil unknown Linux partition, moved the recovery partion
to the end of the drive, and extended the main Mac partition
back over the recovered space.

Mac OSX is a very nice *nix, but it needs the rest of the family for
support in difficult times. It's the clean cut well dressed family member,
but sometimes it needs the rough and ready big brother to do some dirty

=============================================================== From: Bret McHone ------------------------------------------------------ +1. I love gParted. I've used that to resize partitions for windows VMs after needing to expand their boot disk size in vCenter. -B

=============================================================== From: John Aldrich ------------------------------------------------------ What was that disk imaging tool y'all recommended that only copies the sectors with data on them? I find my brand new Seagate 750 Gig HDD is no longer discovered by the PC and I'm having to return it to NewEgg and go back to the original HDD, at least temporarily. I'd like to take another snapshot of the original hard drive now that it's back in the case, as the antivirus definitions are kind of old now... at about 2 weeks or so since they were updated. :D

=============================================================== From: Lynn Dixon ------------------------------------------------------ John, I think you are needing CloneZilla.

=============================================================== From: John Aldrich ------------------------------------------------------ Quoting Lynn Dixon : Yes, thanks. Getting old... I suffer from CRS. ;)
