Any Co-location providers in the area?

From: Lynn Dixon
------------------------------------------------------
All,
It appears I may be looking for a new co-location provider. I have been at
Smith and Hammaker in Knoxville for over 2 years now without any problems
and HAD been a happy customer.

Fast forward to today: I get an email from the new CIO telling me they
"Re-evaluated their pricing to best suit everyone needs" and then he
proceeded to tell me my co-location contract would be increasing from
$35/month to $410/month.

An increase of 12x without any notification or justification is just not
good business, and I am slightly pissed as you might imagine.

So, do any of you know of any good local co-location facilities in the area
that have decent pricing? I really want to stay local, but I am willing to
co-locate far away to get good pricing.

I have had good experiences with these 2, and I may end up going with one
of these guys again:

and

Thanks!

Disclaimer - I used to work for Jim, and still do the occasional side job here and there. They have space at 11th and Central - probably more than you need if you were only paying $35/month. If you need a cage, they have that space here in town as well as in Nashville. Joe

=============================================================== From: "kitepilot@kitepilot.com" ------------------------------------------------------ Hello Lynn, I'll collocate you for $35 a month. What kind of bandwidth are you running now? Feel free to answer privately to work out the details. Thanks! ET Lynn Dixon writes:

One for the HP iLo and the other 2 for bonded nics. Do you think they would be willing to take on a 1U machine for a decent price (competitve to Joes and ColoPronto?)

=============================================================== From: Mike Harrison ------------------------------------------------------ Been there, done that, doing it yet again for some things. I think this is my 3 or 4th server setup at Networks Inc since 2003. You get a stable colo, with nice people neighbors on the network, and genuine DaveHelp(tm) and JimHelp(tm) which helps with some stranger configuration and other needs. It's old school boutique/bespoke colocation with a personal touch. --Mike--

=============================================================== From: Lynn Dixon ------------------------------------------------------ Thanks to all that have made suggestions. I am finally back in town from Red Hat Summit, and have been trying to work with Smith and Hammaker to find some sort of middle ground for this quandry. unfortunately, they are not budging at all. So, I have no choice but to take my business elsewhere, and can no longer recommend them to anyone. It's amazing what a "New CIO" can do for a company right? I have contacted Peace, and they are going to put together a quote for me shortly. I have also contacted the other folks directly whom offered co-location. I have tried to find some information for Networks Inc, but haven't had any luck.
