hmmm, my msn/hotmail got hacked also

wonder if my recent trip to atlanta had anything to do with this

so how exactly does such a hack job work... do they get my password with a keylogger, login to my account, and send a blast email to all my contacts?

I see no unusual messages in the "sent" folder...

=============================================================== From: Chad Smith ------------------------------------------------------ Technically, it's possible your email never sent anything at all - just that they got your contact list and spoofed your from address... Or part of the script was to clean up after itself (that is, to delete the sent mails). *- Chad W. Smith*

=============================================================== From: C A ------------------------------------------------------ Did you use an open wireless access point somewhere? Back in my younger days, some friends and I would sit outside of a Starbucks or Panera Bread and collect literally hundreds of passwords.

=============================================================== From: wes ------------------------------------------------------ hotmail is notorious for their lax security. I see compromised hotmail and yahoo accounts ALL THE TIME. the thing is, as these large conglomerate corporations do more and more to tie their authentication systems together, they end up exposing more surface area to attack. if one idiot team manages to make one supposedly obfuscated auth system available to one corporate partner which does not do sufficient brute force rate limiting, it's only a matter of time before your account is compromised next. -wes

=============================================================== From: Tim Youngblood ------------------------------------------------------ Two factor authentication, you need. -Yoda But you most likely got Pineappled.

=============================================================== From: Rod-Lists ------------------------------------------------------ Just think of all that outlook users you know and the guys who publicly cc everybody. So your e-mail is a list of peoples outlook who you don't even know because buddie loves CC. ----- Chad Smith wrote:
