Short intro

From: Aric Annear
------------------------------------------------------
Hello-the welcome message for joining the mailing list said to introduce
myself, so yeah.

My name's Aric, I grew up here but moved to Seattle some years ago to work
for Amazon.com, and just moved back recently. I run Ubuntu on my home
server, and distro hop like mad on my PC. I'm definitely not a Linux guru
but hoping to be eventually. I'm one of the maybe 5 people on the planet
that actually really likes GNOME 3. (Probably shouldn't have said that out
loud.)

Anything you'd like to know, feel free to ask. Glad to be here.

Thanks,

-Aric

=============================================================== From: David White ------------------------------------------------------ There's a number of tech startups here, but we still have a ways to go. Aaron Welch's Iron Gamer is here, as is his Quickcue. I work for Lamp Post Group (a venture incubator with ties to a number of startups, including retickr which is a tech startup), although I'm leaving at the end of the month (2 weeks) to launch my own tech startup, CENTS, into a full time venture (full IT service provider for nonprofits. We won't be building many (any?) cool nifty apps, but we're still a tech startup, none-the-less). Then there's Life Kraze. Then there's The Company Lab which is a nonprofit in the area helping startup companies. Then there's a lot more (some of them tech). =3D) nce e ck * =92s be e a s t * : e ork uru et out

=============================================================== From: Chad Smith ------------------------------------------------------ Yo. Sorry I'm so late to the "welcome the new kid" party - but "Welcome, New Kid". I'm Chad. I like cheap Android tablets and expensive Apple laptops. I am not a troll, but I do sometimes disagree with people on here strongly and loudly and with huge blocks of text. I also collect all the dues for the group - it's $50 a month, or a $150 lifetime membership. I can send you the PayPal link offlist... Just kidding! It's really $25 a month. Ok, seriously, there are no dues - and welcome, Aric. *- Chad W. Smith* Hello=97the welcome message for joining the mailing list said to introduce ork uru et out

=============================================================== From: Mike Harrison ------------------------------------------------------ We all pay our dues: every time we show someone a Linux system or use one to solve a problem.

=============================================================== From: "Alex Smith (K4RNT)" ------------------------------------------------------ Yes, while we may not agree on favorite distribution, or what kind of phone is best for everyone, we all help each other out, and we are all friends. Welcome to the friendly LUG! If I'm ever in town to visit, I'll buy a beer. :)

=============================================================== From: Stephen Kraus ------------------------------------------------------ Welcome to the best Linux list in the world.

=============================================================== From: Mike Harrison ------------------------------------------------------ Stephen, It's been a bad day in some ways, and I'm on my second gin and tonic. Just wanted you to know: You just made my day awesome. Thank you!

=============================================================== From: Stephen Kraus ------------------------------------------------------ It wasn't a great day for me either Mike, as I left for school this morning, I got half way there when the torque from my little diesel sheared all the bolts holding the harmonic balancer pulley and the v belt pulley off, causing them to be thrown from the car. Thankfully, I was able to turn around without a water pump/alternator/power steering and drive home. I came home from school, drilled holes into the center of the remaining bolts in the crank timing belt gear, and used an easy out to back them out. So it ended on a good note, started on a horrible one.
