did tablets kill the kiosks market

From: Rod-Lists
or is there a place still for for them?

=============================================================== From: Mike Harrison ------------------------------------------------------ Maybe because of the world I live in, I seem them everywhere. They are "payment kiosks".

=============================================================== From: John Aldrich ------------------------------------------------------ Quoting Mike Harrison : I still see a few, places like the wireless phone stores, etc where you can do "self-serve" payments, etc. Also, Verizon stores now have a "check-in" system when you walk in the door, so they can serve customers in the order they come in.

=============================================================== From: Rod-Lists ------------------------------------------------------ I'm just wondering if there is market for someone to set those up. I have heard of restaurants using ipads but that is so over kill. ----- John Aldrich wrote:

=============================================================== From: DaWorm ------------------------------------------------------ You should go to the Minneapolis-St. Paul airport sometime, terminal G. Must be 300 iPads set up as menus and free web surf, hooked to credit card readers to pay, emailed receipt. Not sure if the rest of the airport is that way, but G is crawling with them. Jeff.

=============================================================== From: DaWorm ------------------------------------------------------ BTW, the latest product I helped build for our company was technically a kiosk.

=============================================================== From: Bret McHone ------------------------------------------------------ Same here. I've setup probably 5-6 around the campus using VMWare View client in (you guessed it!) Kiosk mode. -B

=============================================================== From: Matt Keys ------------------------------------------------------ VW has them throughout the "spine" of the plant. IIRC they're for VW Credit Union accounts but I'm not positive on that. They're pretty large--about the size of an arcade game. I'd have to agree, I can't see how they would be worth the investment.
