editing xmp3 tags on Linux

I've just downloaded a few mp3 songs from amazon but I'd like to change the=
Album tag. I'M use to simply right clicking=2C finding the field and chang=
ing the text but it's hard coded (or what ever you call it) rather than bei=
ng in a simple text field. Does anyone know why I can't edit these files an=
d what Linux program I could use to accomplish this?

=============================================================== From: Sean Brewer ------------------------------------------------------ You can. The data is embedded in the mp3 files themselves. Pretty much any software that plays mp3s will at least edit the tags. Just an FYI: the protocol for the tag data is called ID3, and the version of the protocol that allows image data is version 2. easytag is pretty good software that's dedicated to editing ID3 data on mp3s on Linux.
