NEXT MEETING

Monday, June 4th:  Charlie Brock of Gig City - Chattanooga is the first city
in the Western Hemisphere to offer 1 Gigabit-per-second fiber internet
service to all of its residents and businesses.  At 20-200 times the maximum
speed available in other communities, the Gig opens the door to unimagined
ways to learn, play and conduct business.  So Chattanooga is hosting a
series of competitions through the summer of 2012 for students and
entrepreneurs to launch future uses of this amazing speed. Eight teams
participating in the CO.LAB Gig Tank event are nearing the end of the second
week of the 13-week competition, which will end with a Demo Day Aug. 9 and a
possibility of $100,000 for a team of entrepreneurs.

Many of the teams come from far outside Chattanooga to participate,
including teams from Tampa, Fla., and Northern Ireland.  Mr. Brock will
introduce us to the teams and projects in the CO.LAB Gig Tank competition.


MEETING LOGISTICS

The Chattanooga Engineer's Club meets noon Mondays at the DOUBLETREE HOTEL,
407 Chestnut Street, from 12 noon to 1 pm EST and free parking is available
at 11:30. Buffet lunch is $16.  If you do not plan to purchase lunch, please
use chairs around the perimeter of the room.

A Gig via EPB, delivered downtown, with static IP's
and all ports open for commercial use: $12k per month.
