Except they are physically stronger than hard disks. Go ahead, drop
your backup hard drive off your desk onto the floor. Still work?
Repeat with an LTO cartridge. Let me know which one fails first.
And that hard disk has a file system on it. Just the right bit gets
twiddled, and you lost every bit of data on that media. That bad spot
on your tape, you might lose a couple of files.
