_*Network / Infrastructure Support*_


As a key member of Covenant Transport Groups Infrastructure Team, must 
have a deep background in VMWare vSphere technologies and support of 
large deployments. The Network/Infrastructure Support (VMWare) will have 
experience with architecture and implementation of deployments, and 
participating as a core team member helping to run and optimize a very 
large enterprise class virtualization infrastructure.


_*ORGANIZATIONAL STATUS*_

This position reports to the Network Infrastructure Support Manger and 
periodically works with all Covenant Transport Groups Infrastructure staff.


_*ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS*_


  *

    Define all architectural standards relating to the
    *VMware*infrastructure including network technologies (virtual and
    distributed switches, Fiber Channel switching), IBM v7000 and EMC
    CX4-120 storage technologies (multipathing, datastores, etc.), and
    ESX Design, implement and support *VMware*ESX/ESXi infrastructure.

  *

    Provide technical resolution to advanced incident and problem events
    related to the *VMware*infrastructure .

  *

    Design and implement monitoring and performance analysis tools.

  *

    Assist with day to day operations of the virtual infrastructure.

  *

    Help to define and execute ongoing administration and maintenance
    plans, procedures, and operations.

  *

    Proactively address storage, or system performance issues.

  *

    Capacity Planning Documentation of the virtual infrastructure.

  *

    Automation and deployment of all virtual machines.

  *

    Research and test new products in relation to *VMware*and help to
    develop a service offering around these products.

  *

    Develop and implement procedures and processes for the Thin Client
    and Terminal Server operation.

  *

    Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending
    educational workshops; reviewing professional publications;
    establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art
    practices; participating in professional societies.

  *

    Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

_*DUTIES*_

  *

    Demonstrated knowledge of VMware ESX/ESXi v5.x

  *

    Demonstrated knowledge of SRM, Snapshots and Disaster Recovery
    procedures

  *

    Demonstrated knowledge of Windows servers and desktop products.

  *

    Demonstrated knowledge of backup products and strategies, both
    virtual and physical.

  *

    Ability to work with hardware/software service and technical support
    vendors.

  *

    Ability to manage multiple projects, activities and tasks
    simultaneously.

  *

    Facilitation and change management skills.

  *

    Highly developed verbal and written communications.

  *

    Other duties as assigned.

*KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS*

  *

    Considerable (5 years) and current experience as an VMware
    Administrator on a medium sized network of servers, desktop systems
    and communications devices using current technologies.

  *

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Certification: VCP, VCAP-DCA or VCAP-DCD,
    VSTP, VCDX Prefer VCP certification (version 4 or 5)

  *

    Storage Administration Background

  *

    Knowledge of current trends in the specific field.

  *

    Demonstrated experience with standard software applications,
    including MS Office, Windows. May require database management skills
    with ability to produce reports. Ability to use advanced computer
    functions including navigating the Internet. Ability to manipulate,
    analyze and interpret data.

  *

    Familiarity with support and troubleshooting of personal computers.

  *

    Must have a strong dedication to customer service.

  *

    Training ability/experience a plus.

  *

    Analyze situations, evaluate alternatives, and implement solutions
    within standards (where applicable).

  *

    Interpret guidelines and analyze factual information to adapt or
    modify processes in response to changing circumstances.

*WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL EFFORT*

    Willingness to work flexible hours.

    Willingness and ability to travel 5% to 10% to U.S. locations, to
    conferences and subsidiary companies.

    Ability to work under stress during peak workload periods.
