I find full screen editors to be very inefficient so I usually build the first 
version of a file using echo and > redirection

if by some chance I make a mistake I invoke sed

if composing/editing binary files I sometimes use od

Ok I'm shopping around for good editor that can be a decent IDE.
Saw this article on Gedit + plugins as a web developer IDE.

While other folk say gedit has too many gnome cruft and to use geany?

What yea on the subject system came with nano & leaFPAD.
